Free Homework Help and Tutoring For Students

NOTE: Because of budget cuts, our office hours had to be reduced. Our office hours are now Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Judy Seaman, our Regional Technical Assistant, conducted a tutor training workshop on February 4. The workshop focused on the Laubach method of teaching reading. The Laubach method is phonics based.
Eight people attended the workshop: Kalama Koholo, Dolores Preston, Jody Morse, Travis Kline, Kitty Hess, Janet Robinson, William Yoke, and Carolyn Sirk.
A chili dinner is planned for March - we will have more details later.
LVHC tutors and volunteers have helped students pass the GED test, or get into adult education; pass college entrance exams, military entrance exams, and high school exams. Many of our students are now getting better grades, learning to love reading, and solving algebra problems. Yet, there are still people on our waiting list, because there are never enough tutors to meet the demand for our services.
If you can donate at least one hour a week to help someone better his/her reading or math skills, learn to speak and write in English, or help a student with his or her homework, please contact us. Our training is free, just like our services. Tutoring is a wonderful way to help others.
Like everyone else, LVHC is facing some tough times economically. Your donations are even more important this year. Your donations enable us to provide our programs free of charge, and pay for the materials we use in tutoring and in tutor training classes.
