You Can Help By Becoming A Literacy Volunteer!
Literacy Volunteers of Harrison County Inc. (LVHC) is always in need of volunteers.  The need in our community is great; illiteracy is a factor in all of our community’s socio-economic problems.  LVHC offers a cost-free solution, available to everyone.  However, we cannot provide our services without volunteers.  It takes time, patience, sensitivity, enthusiasm, commitment, and a sense of humor to be a volunteer, but the rewards are great!

We  have an individualized tutor training available. This type of training allows volunteers to work from home at their own pace, meeting only a couple of times with a trainer. Additionally, we have training exemptions for teachers and education providers.

If you know someone who has difficulty with reading or writing, or with learning English as a Second Language, tell them about LVHC!

CURRENT FUNDRAISERS AND EVENTS

Kroger Cares Cards

In an effort to raise funds for Literacy Volunteers of Harrison County (LVHC), we are sponsoring several fundraisers.  One is selling Kroger Cares Cards.

As a contributor to LVHC, you would purchase the card for $5 (It comes loaded with $5) and as your shopping needs determine, you would put money on the card at ANY Kroger store, at the Customer Care window.  Five percent (5%) of what you load is donated to LVHC each time you load money onto the card.  You pay for your groceries and/or gas with your Kroger “debit” card.  There is no expiration on the cards.
This will be an ongoing fundraiser.
Kroger Care Cards can be purchased from the LVHC office, or from LVHC  Board Members.
Call (304) 624-0533 or email lvhcwv@yahoo.com to buy a card or find out more about this fundraiser.
